Coon of the Night

This is my Digicel 2 final project. I created the character in my Character Design class. The voice of the bad guy was done by my friend Stefan L. He and my boyfriend helped me out in the brainstorming process. He also came up with names for my characters. The raccoon is named Rac (Coon of the Night), and the evil ferret is named Nibbles, lol.

The program I used for this is Toon Boom. Also be sure to check out the character design pictures and the pictures of the maquette of Rac.

Team Project

So every year SCAD has a 24 hour event where every department has its own 24 hour challenge. It's really fun! For animation of coarse the challenge is to make a short animation in 24 hours. You team up with a group, or you can work solo, and you work on your animation for 24 hours straight. This was my first time being part of the 24 hour challenge. My friend Matt, who took the flash animation class with me, teamed up with me (we planned before to not have a big group) and we created this project. Our team name was Go Team! lol.

Matt was the one to do the backgrounds and the scene where the boy is in the "real world". I was in charge of character design and the opening and ending scene. Also i want to give credit to my teacher Tina O' Hailey who helped us with the ending when we were having a hard time finishing it. She helped us make it end in a way where it could loop if we played it continuously.

Monkey And Crocodile

This is the very first animatic I ever made! I loved this project and my teacher had a good laugh watching it. The assignment was to take a folktale or fairytale and make it your own. I found out about this old story about a crocodile whose mother asked him to get her the heart of a monkey to eat. It seemed like a fun story to do with some funny parts to it so i decided to use it.

Oh, by the way, the original animatic somehow got corrupted so I had to remake it. and I realized that apparently I didn't know how to save back then!Half of the After Effects files for the different scenes where missing the sound and one of the scenes was missing animation! Heh, at least I had enough to make it work so it's fine. It's a lesson you have to learn I guess. I save all the time now.

Hmm, I just realized the credits are missing. The voices are: Momma Croc by me, Croc Jr. by Stefan L., and the monkey by my brother, Kenneth.

Disney's The Princess and the Frog!

The Sunday after it was released I got to see The Princess and the Frog!
And Wow! What else can I say? What an awesome movie! The animation absolutely blew me away! Finally, right?! I'm sure like many other animators and Disney fans alike, I was devastated when Disney claimed that they would no longer create 2d animated movies. This Movie was like a breath of fresh air. It was a reminder of my dream, a look into the sort of work I want to be able to work on. It had an engaging story. All the characters where great. I loved that villain. I got to see it with my two little sisters and they both commented on how scary he was. I told them that means that he was well animated, lol. I loved the music too; I wasn't even thinking about that when I went to see the movie.

So now I've been going around telling everyone that they should see this movie. Hmm, i guess I'll do it here too! You gotta see this movie!

This was a dialogue assignment. I created the little gangster fox character in art history class one day while taking notes. I'm really proud of how this one turned out. I used some audio i found of Denzel Washington, though I don't know what movie it's from. Sounded fun though. I created the other character to play off the dialogue but my focus wasn't on animating him so he doesn't move much.

Now this class was awesome! Animating on paper on top of a light table? I loved every second of it! I remember staying up late in that room drawing all night. We used flipbook to put it together. For this assignment we were to animate a character (this character; I can't remember his name, was given to us as an option to use) lifting a heavy object. The weight of the object has to be visible. We used the book "The Animator's Survival Kit" by Richard Williams as a guide.

This project was to introduce us to animating with symbols in flash. The little character is a ferret :-) I realized afterward that I wasn't completely understanding symbols till I worked on a group project later with a friend of mine. I'll post that one soon, I gotta compress it.

Ok, I'll let you in on a little secret....you ready?...I don't normally animate/draw serious, sad things like this. I can't help it, I love drawing cute things and stuff that makes people laugh. So my teacher challenged me to make something, well, not so cute. Never one to back down, I accepted and this is the result. I gotta give credit to my big bro on helping me come up with the idea and finding me this really sad song.

The song is "Home" by the Foo Fighters

For this project we were to create a "how to" cartoon using the style of Don Hertzfeld. It was a fun project, getting to draw with stick figures; keeping it simple, and with a little bit of violence, lol. That's always fun right! Anyway, the project was meant to give us something to start with in learning about Flash and i gotta say i do like flash!
